| UV254 |
Destroys chloramines which are considered destructive to the ozone layer. Creates near drinking water quality and absolutely no chemicals.
|
Adds nothing to the pool. Instantly kills 99.99% of bacteria including crypto and giardia. Destroys chloramines and reduces chlorine use by up to 85%. |
Simplifies maintenance, pH balancing and prolongs life of pool equipment. Requires barely 15 minutes annual maintenance. |
|
Ozonators |
Creates chemical reactions which have to be treated with more chemicals. |
Ozone can react with bromide, the active form of bromine to form bromate, designated by IARC as a possible human carcinogen. Irritates respiratory system. Can have strong odor.
|
Can damage vinyl pool liners. |
| Ionizers |
Creates chemical reactions which have to be treated with more chemicals. |
Kills bacteria but affected by weather conditions and pool use.
|
Pools can stain. Very costly annual replacement of chamber cells and electrodes. |
| Salt |
Creates chemical reactions which have to be treated with more chemicals. Consumes 5x more electricity than the UV254. |
Does not eliminate chloramines. Kills bacteria slowly. Can't kill crypto and giardia. Salt levels will build up and need to be treated by another chemical. |
Requires addition of cyanuric acid for stabilizer. Costly replacement cells. Shortens life of vinyl liners and often corrodes metal pool equipment including stairs, pool walls, and heaters.
|
| Chlorine |
Creates chemical reactions which have to be treated with more chemicals. |
Can create harmful chemicals and carcinogenic by-products such as THMs. Not as effective as UV in destroying crypto and giardia.
|
Time consuming maintenance to achieve correct chlorine dosage and pH balance. Reduces life of pool liner and corrodes other equipment. |
Please forgive me for saying this again, but... WOW! The pool water is crystal clear. The UV254 Sanitizer works like a charm! I’ve cut my chemical costs in half. My chlorine usage is significantly lower which in turn makes it easier (and cheaper!) for me to balance my pool’s pH. Congratulations on a very useful piece of pool equipment - one that you don't realize you need until you calculate how much money and time you spend buying pool chemicals.
